💙Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF)

As an independent and impartial humanitarian organization, Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) delivers emergency medical care where the needs for our expertise are greatest—regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, or politics. MSF is working wherever lifesaving medical care is urgently needed. Your fundraiser and dedication enable us to respond immediately and to care for the patients who need it most.

MSF teams in Myanmar and surrounding countries are ready to respond to the scale of needs of communities affected by the 7.7 magnitude earthquake. We are prepared to help people who’ve lost shelter, access to healthcare, and safe drinking water. Every second counts when saving lives in the immediate aftermath of an earthquake, particularly for people suffering from trauma injuries.

💙 Save the Children

Save the Children is responding to the impact of two strong earthquakes which struck Myanmar and impacted neighboring countries including Thailand.

While the full extent of the damage is still unclear, we know children are the most vulnerable following disaster. Our teams are already working with partners to respond to the emergency.

Myanmar's six impacted regions and states - Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Shan and Naypyidaw - are home to over 28 million people, including an estimated 6.7 million children.

💙Direct Relief

Following a devastating 7.7-magnitude earthquake that struck central Myanmar on March 28 at 12:50 p.m. local time, Direct Relief is mobilizing emergency response efforts in coordination with the ASEAN Coordinating Center for Humanitarian Assistance on Disaster Management, or AHA Center. The response is being guided by a standing collaboration agreement between Direct Relief and the AHA Center, established to strengthen and support regional disaster response across Southeast Asia.

A 6.4-magnitude aftershock followed just 12 minutes after the initial event, increasing the risk of further damage and injuries. In response, Direct Relief is mobilizing its emergency response efforts to support those affected in impacted countries and regionally. The organization’s established partnership with the AHA Center enables rapid, coordinated response and effective communication in support of ASEAN member states. Direct Relief is also in contact with local partner organizations and healthcare providers to determine the immediate medical needs.

💙Project Hope

Project HOPE is mobilizing a response to the catastrophic 7.7 earthquake in Myanmar.

This disaster has left unimaginable destruction in its wake – hundreds have died and been injured. Those numbers are projected to climb into the thousands. Deaths have also been reported in Thailand, with the toll expected to rise in the coming days across the region.

Myanmar is already grappling with poverty, conflict and fragile infrastructure, and has put out a request for international assistance.

We're mobilizing to assess local health infrastructure and provide medical care, critical supplies, and other aid to people impacted by this devastating earthquake.

You can support Project HOPE as we continue to respond to disasters, health crises and conflicts all over the world, wherever the need is greatest.

💙The British Red Cross

On Friday 28 March, a 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck central Myanmar, at approximately 1pm local time (6am in the UK).

The situation is evolving by the hour, but we know that the humanitarian needs are immense. Many people are without safe shelter, access to clean water, or healthcare. Families have been separated. Communication networks are down. Infrastructure is in ruins.

The British Red Cross helps millions of people in the UK and around the world get the support they need if crisis strikes.

Our work includes helping people in the UK and overseas when emergencies happen, preventing or easing human suffering around the world, supporting victims of modern slavery and trafficking and protecting people in armed conflict.

The Myanmar Earthquake Appeal will support people in areas affected and those potentially affected in the future by this crisis. Gift Aid claimed on donations received in response to this appeal will be used to fund the whole of our work. In the event there are surplus funds raised for this appeal these will be used for the general charitable purposes of the British Red Cross.
