Community Spotlight: kaelena
This week, we are featuring the amazing work of kaelena (she/her)!
She describes her content as "While utilizing my social work background, I strive to create a cozy and welcoming corner of the internet through compassionate gaming. Currently, we play farming sims such as Stardew Valley and Palia."
We asked her some questions about her time fundraising for charity on Tiltify, so let’s get into it!

How much have you fundraised?
$50,062.06
What is the next fundraising campaign you have planned?
My next fundraising campaign will be held the first two weeks of September 2024 for the American Cancer Society's Hope Lodge® in collaboration with the Twitch Guilds. The Hope Lodge communities "offer a home away from home for people facing cancer and their caregivers when cancer treatment is far away." In June 2021, my mother passed away due to pancreatic cancer. Since then I have made it part of my personal mission to raise awareness and stress the importance of cancer research so that one day we can live in a world without cancer.
What is your favorite moment of fundraising?
When my Twitch community (aka "The Kaemmunity") raised $8550, the most we've ever raised, during the 2021 St Jude PLAY LIVE season. On the last day of the campaign, we raised the most we ever raised in a single day and received an anonymous $1000 donation! As you can see from the clip, I was quite emotional.
Why do you choose to fundraise?
I’ve been a community-service and charity-oriented person my entire life as it brings me great joy. I've done extensive charity work in high school then became a member of a co-ed charity-oriented fraternity in college that I later became a volunteer advisor post-graduation. Furthermore, I have a Master’s in Social Work with a focus on community health and urban development where I’ve continued my efforts in my streaming space as well. Ultimately, I want my legacy to be that I was a woman for others.
What Tiltify tools have you used that made an impact on your fundraising?
As someone who has been dying her hair for years, my community and I love using polls to choose my next hair color(s).
What is a fun fact you’d like to share?
Since 2004, I have been a competitive pool player who has won numerous tournaments.
What advice do you have for anyone fundraising for the first time?
It's never too late to get involved in fundraising. Whether you raise $1 or $10000 for charity, know that you and your community are making a difference in this world.
