We interviewed maverickmike737 about raising over $16,000 during their last campaign!
Here at Tiltify, we love highlighting the amazing work of our fundraisers. We had the pleasure of interviewing maverickmike737 about their last campaign, World Flight 2024!
Let’s get into it!
First off. tell us a bit about yourself and your content.
Hello we are a team call wings for hope. We are made up of many youtube and twitch content creators as well as flight simulation enthusiast and real world pilots. We love hanging out and sharing our love for aviation. St jude is such a great cause to raise money for. Myself Midnight maverick (Mike) got to be apart of St Jude play live for the first time this past march and has been such an honor. The main event we currently do is called World flight were we fly with other teams around the world in a simulator for 7 straight days for charity. We look to grow this into even more events through out the year!
What inspired you to start a fundraising stream, and why did you choose Tiltify as your platform?
The event world flight got me into doing charity streams now. I dont believe there are enough of this events out there to do something good for the world. Need more Content creators to use their platforms to help effect positive change in the world. I choose tiltify as it is the most easy to use platform and with stream integration's its the perfect choice.
How did you decide on the specific cause or charity to support?
One of my biggest supports in stream named Statewi brought my attention to navigraph so I started doing my own streams every so often for St jude. Once i got the invite to St Jude creators play live event in Memphis and got to see it all in person and hear everyone's story and it completely sold me in the mission for life.
How much did you end up fundraising?
The last two years for this event we raised money for orbis with a total of over 30K total, this year our goal is 15K for our first year doing this for St Jude and we are on track currently to meet that or pass it.
Can you walk us through some of the goals and incentives you set up for viewers during the stream? Which ones were the most popular?
Due to the last min details and timing of making sure we can get the event going we did not have the preset up insentives setup but we will in future events. We mainly took random ideas from chat of what they wanted us to do. Somethings included me dressing as a kangaroo called skippy, stuffing whole donuts in my face, taking drinks on stream while flying
Were there any unexpected challenges you encountered during the stream? How did you handle them?
Thankfully this year has been very smooth compared to the last 2 as we keep learning as we grow but some tech issues with some of the simulator equipment but easy fixes.
How did your community respond to the stream? Were there any moments that surprised you in terms of donations or engagement?
The community has loved our event and stream so far. World flight has been a great hit since we started 3 years ago and is always looked forward to and is talked about all year leading up to it. We have had ton of great moments alot or memes have been made from screen shots by us and chat of funny moments
